I want a house that has got over all its troubles.
I don't want to spend the rest of my life bringing up
a young and inexperienced house.

Summary:
For a lover of vintage style and open, spare space, we created a path of rooms moving from warm to cool: including easy-care furniture & finishings suitable for her casual lifestyle and active child. In the living area, reflecting her love of Italy, we 'stretched time' with abraded plaster and a 12-step glaze finish, accented with liquid metal leaf. The kitchen design had a 50's diner feel contrasted with industrial elements in galvanized pipe, a reclaimed lab cabinet, and modern stainless appliances. The client, a busy executive who disliked cooking, felt the antique butler’s pantry (refinished with colored stains and handrubbed linseed oil) gave all needed storage, and she wanted intriguing form rather than unneeded function.
"I was worried, even though I understood your explanation of why we needed a little there. I love it now- it's just enough!"
